It's been a big week here at Indiesew! On Tuesday we launched our collaboration with Dan Lehman and Spoonflower. Four exclusive new fabrics hit the shop with a carnivorous plant motif. That's right folks, we printed insect-eating plants on fabric. It's so dang good.

Check out Spoonflower's Insider Look to learn more about how Dan and I met and how this print evolved. For the next few weeks, we'll be showing an in-depth look at the four garments we sewed in each of the four fabrics available.

Today, it's all about the Rachael Playsuit sewing pattern by Designer Stitch. We sewed this Rachael Playsuit in the Fool's Paradise Dark Poly Crepe. If this isn't #sewfrosting, I don't know what is.

Model: Jerayah Davis

For sizing reference, Jerayah's bust/waist/hip measurements are roughly 33"/26"/36" and she's 5'10" tall. We sewed the size 3, graded to a size 4 at the hips (equivalent to US size 6/8). We added an inch to both the bodice and the pants to account for her height. The fit was great on her, especially through the hips and thighs. I love that the hem of the pants falls right at her ankle break.

Jerayah came alive when she put on this jumpsuit! She loved the light and airy feeling of this poly crepe against her skin. And she was super excited to discover inseam pockets! I loved seeing this reaction from a model who doesn't really have the same connection to the clothing as I do. I think it speaks volumes to this fabric/pattern pairing!

The Rachael Playsuit's neckline is a low cross-over design, but we added a hidden hook-and-eye closure to for a bit more coverage. I love the 70's vibe of this design with its bell-shaped sleeves and wide legs. This pattern also comes with two other sleeve lengths and two leg lengths for versatility. This design works well with a leather jacket and would be super chic with a pair of boots for fall.

Rachael is designed to be sewn in lightweight fabrics with a soft hand and Spoonflower's poly crepe is the perfect substrate. It smooths over the body and doesn't wrinkle easily.

Overall, we're big fans of the Rachael Playsuit, especially sewn in Dan's Fool's Paradise Dark Poly Crepe! Grab a few yards of this fabric and sew your own version!

Happy sewing!
