Introducing the Indiesew Exclusive Pattern | Ballard by Straight Stitch Designs

It’s not an everyday occurrence here at the Indiesew HQ that we get to unveil something we’ve been working on for weeks. Steve and I are constantly dreaming up our next big project, scheduling tasks into the long-term horizon. We’re both overly ambitious, but it’s still just the two of us behind (plus a TON of awesome supporters!). So our big dreams often take a bit of time to come to fruition. And when they do, we get really, really excited. Like today, we get to show you the newest in Indiesew happenings. Today, we get to show you the Ballard top sewing pattern!

The Ballard is the latest sewing pattern released from a new designer, Straight Stitch Designs. The designer that brought you the Ravenna Top, is at it again, and her second design is one item I can’t stop wearing. Let’s get into the good stuff.

The Details

The Ballard is a knit, ¾ sleeve top that wears easily, looks effortless, and packs a punch of surprise in the back.

Two Panel Peek-a-boo Back

Kimberly has designed the back of this top with two curved panels that are overlapped at the top and bottom to create a great split-back design. Pair this top with a camisole underneath, or wear a trendy bandeau bra for a minimalist, slightly sexy look. Because this split-back is conservative, you won’t have to worry about showing too much skin inadvertently.

Gathered Scoop Neck

The most flattering part of this top is the gathered scoop neck. The neckline is modest, yet comfortable and complements the widest and narrowest of shoulders. The neckline is knit-bound, creating the perfect, effortless silhouette for busy days on-the-go and balances all the visual interest happening in the back. | Gathered Scoop Neck on the Ballard Sewing Pattern

Banded Cuffs and Waist

Perhaps my favorite features of this pattern are the sleeve cuffs and waist band. Those two pattern details make this top completely comfortable. The banded waist especially makes this a great top to wear with fitted pants such as skinny jeans or leggings. And the sleeve cuffs allow you to adjust the sleeves on your arms where you prefer.

Two Weeks of Ballard

We’ve introduced the Ballard, but there’s so much more in store for this pattern over the next two weeks. Be ready for a full Ballard sewalong! Also coming your way is a style post and creations roundup! We’ve seen some amazing versions of this pattern already, just from the tester group.

Like this one of the designer in her Ballard top. We just love the tribal sweater knit she used for this version.
