It's our turn on the Cleo Skirt Summer Showcase! You can read more about this blog event and find out who the other 20 (!) sewists involved are here.

The Cleo Skirt by Made by Rae is a gathered skirt with a flat front waistband and elasticated back waistband. Deep pockets provide a place to stash the essentials. This design comes in two lengths, knee and midi, which makes it a design you'll likely want to sew more than once.

This design is a great pattern for beginner sewists. Mostly straight seams and no finicky closures means you'll be able to sew this up in a snap and achieve a super professional look. Intermediate and advanced sewists will find that this skirt can be sewn in just an hour or two.

What's better? We'll be stocking paper patterns of this design very soon!

Side note: Rae's manager and cousin, Jess, sewed up this lovely Cleo Skirt for the Indiesew Shop sample. She is an impeccable sewist!

I find the midi-length Cleo Skirt to be the perfect length for my 5'6" frame. Paired with a knit tank top and some Swedish clogs, this is an outfit I can see myself wearing regularly in the summer.

The top you see here is the Durango Tank by Hey June (it's a FREE fully-graded pattern, guys!). I sewed it in our new 2x2 Heather Grey Ribbed Knit and sized down since this fabric has over 80% stretch and a ton of drape.

Next time, I would size down 2 or 3 sizes and create a bit more shaping at the side and back seams next time to achieve my desired look, but honestly this top has already gotten a ton of wear because it's so comfortable. Next up? A pair of pajamas sewn entirely in ribbed knit. It's going to happen.

For cool fall weather, I'll throw my Hampton Jean Jacket over this outfit and sub my clogs out for some leather booties. I can easily see myself wearing this Cleo Skirt three seasons of the year.

Be sure to check out these lovely other bloggers on the Cleo Summer Showcase Blog Tour! Several of them have sewed up more than one Cleo Skirt in amazing fabrics. | Cleo Summer Showcase Schedule
